Tucked away in the bottom corner of the world is the ruggedly beautiful island country of Australia. This nation is one that changes tremendously from one coast to the other, but one that is consistently gorgeous throughout. As the home of postcard-worthy beaches, glimmering waters, bustling cities, the world-famous outback, and of course, plenty of incredible wildlife, Australia is a country that will leave any visitor’s jaw on the floor.
Quite the endorsement, huh?
Well, unfortunately, all the written praise in the world doesn’t do this country justice. Travel writer Bill Bryson came close in his fantastic Australia-centric novel In a Sunburned Country, but to really appreciate the true beauty of Australia, you need to see it. And without visiting Australia, there is truly no better way to see the country than by following its incredible, official Instagram account, which posts absolutely incredible photos on the daily.
Without further ado, here are some of the best recent photos from Australia’s incredible Instagram account.

This lovely island off the coast of @experienceperth in @westernaustralia is home to loads of these furry critters; they're native to #Rottnest so it's the best place to see them in the wild. The #quokkas here really do want to become your best buddy; in fact, they're so friendly that they'll hop right up and give you a sniff. No need to be alarmed – it's just their way of saying hello! #justanotherdayinwa #thisiswa #wildlifephotography #travelphotos #wanderlust
If you're looking for us this weekend, we'll be paddling the turquoise waters surrounding @orpheusisland… don't wait up 😎 This secluded island on the #GreatBarrierReef accommodates just 28 guests at a time, so you won't need to fight for a spot on the island's 11 kilometres of beach. You can get to Orpheus Island via a 30-minute flight from @townsvillenorthqueensland or a 90-minute flight from #Cairns. Btw, there are only 27 spots left now – see you there! Bounding into the weekend – Saturday can't come fast enough! This fella bounced past @stimages at #EmeraldBeach in @visitnsw, which is a lovely coastal town in the @coffscoastnsw region. "Who you calling a big mouth?!" – This particularly large-beaked pelican lives at Memory Cove on the @eyrepeninsula, and seems intent on gobbling up not just the fish but the fishing boat as well! Memory Cove is a popular fishing spot, so if you're in this area it's worth hiring a rod and having a crack. If fishing's not your thing, this beautiful spot is surrounded by Lincoln National Park which is home to some of the most scenic coastal walks in @southaustralia.
